She stood motionless in the middle of the crowded street hugging her coat to her body. The wind blew against her small frame and she gripped her coat harder. People bustled around her frantically, hoping to get home after a long day at work. The trees swayed above her dangerously as the wind pushed and shoved at them, bending them to their every whim. Leaves were scattered across the ground as the wind plucked them effortlessly from the trees.

The wind picked up and her hair came undone from its clip so that golden locks blew across her face. She closed her crystal blue eyes tightly to stop the tears that were pricking at their edges as the wind blew into them. She looked like an angel in the face of the wind. But nobody could see her. She was invisible to those around her as they all pushed and shoved to get to the warmth of their homes.

A large gust of wind blew through the street and the trees unexpectedly let down a shower of gold, brown, orange and yellow leaves so that they whirled in a kaleidoscope of colours. She watched them silently as they twirled and danced in the air.

She suddenly let go of her coat and spread her hands out into the air as she was surrounded by the downpour of a swirling mass of beauty. Her hair billowed around her face so that it seemed that a golden halo surrounded her head as her coat flapped against her body. She stood in the middle of those raining golden leaves, arms outstretched, and smiled.

This is for *Wordspill

This came to me when I was walking down a crowded street and the wind blew all the leaves off the trees. I was one of the people trying to get home though :D

I hope you enjoy it ^ ^

I really like the "kaleidoscope of colors" part, it's a good description.

I really like the imagery that you bring into this piece. :) The only thing that I would pull out to comment upon is that it's beautifully descriptive--but the imagery is almost all sight. Perhaps in the future, you could think about trying to include sound or smell as well? Otherwise, it was lovely! Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much. I never actually realised that all my imagery was sight but that's a good point. I'll try and include more sound and smell next time. Thanks again for the comment ^ ^
